Superintendent

Mr. Jim Prather

Mr. Prather became the Rhodes superintendent in 2011. His past professional experiences were as a superintendent/principal, elementary principal, middle school principal, middle school dean, and middle school teacher. He received his Educational Specialist, Masters, and Bachelors degrees from Northern Illinois University. He has certification for positions as a superintendent, chief school business official, general administration (i.e. principal), and secondary teaching (6th-12th grade) in science and social studies. Mr. Prather and his wife, Julie, are the parents of three children, Paige, Abbey, and Grant. His favorite hobby is freshwater and saltwater fishing during any and all seasons of the year.

Principal

Mr. Brian McConnell

Mr. McConnell arrived at Rhodes School in 2011 after working for 10 years in Alton, IL and Waterloo, IL (both in the St. Louis area) as a School Social Worker in schools ranging from Kindergarten to High School. His first job at Rhodes School was serving 4 years as the Assistant Principal. In that role he worked in collaboration with the Special Education Department, the Problem Solving team, and was in charge of discipline, among other roles. He has been Principal at Rhodes since 2015.

Mr. McConnell attended the University of Illinois for undergraduate and graduate school, earning a Bachelor's in Psychology and a Master's in Social Work. He received his Masters of Arts in Education and Type 75 Certificate from McKendree University. Mr. McConnell enjoys spending time with his wife Julie (who is a teacher), their three year old son Patrick, their newborn son Timothy, and their dog Scout.

He also tries to run (He is training for the 2018 Chicago Marathon, which he is running in support of Team Eli through our current social worker, Britta Peterman)and read as much as he can, and he tries to make time to watch the Chicago Cubs, Illinois basketball and Notre Dame football. He loves being the Principal and working with the wonderful students and staff at Rhodes School.

Assistant Principal/Special Education Director

Ms. Roxanne Jackson

Ms. Roxanne Jackson joined Rhodes in July of 2018 as the new assistant Principal/Director of Special Education. In addition to working with the administrative staff she will also oversee the Special Education Department. Before joining Rhodes, Ms. Jackson served as the Dean of Students at Oswego East High School. Prior to Oswego East she spent 7 years at Proviso Area of Exceptional Children as a Special Education Program Supervisor. Ms. Jackson spent multiple years in the classroom as a Special Education teacher.

Ms. Jackson received her undergraduate degree from Western Illinois University where she majored in Biology and received a minor in Geology. After working in food science she returned to Lewis University and received her Master degree in Education with a major in Special Education. She also received her Type 75 certification.

She is the proud parent of two children, her daughter Alem is attending University of Wisconsin in Milwaukee and her son Tewodros is enlisting in the service. Ms. Jackson enthusiastically advocates for all students and has a dedication to serve those students with special needs.

Assistant Principal/Bilingual Education Director

Mrs. Sandra Gonzalez-Adamski

Mrs. Sandra Gonzalez-Adamski joined Rhodes in June 2016 as the new Assistance Principal and Director of Bilingual Education. In addition to working with the administrative staff she will also oversee the bilingual and English Language Learner Department.

Before joining Rhodes, Mrs. Gonzalez-Adamski served as the K-12 ESL Curriculum Coordinator at West Aurora School District where she provided the ESL staff with professional development. Mrs. Gonzalez-Adamski also spent fourteen years teaching bilingual 4th grade at Turner School in West Chicago.

Mrs. Gonzalez-Adamski graduated from Illinois State University where she majored in Speech Communications and received a minor in Spanish. After working in sales and marketing, she focused on her desire to become a teacher and received a master's in education with an additional certification in Bilingual and ESL. In 2013 she received the Illinois principal certification.

Mrs. Gonzalez-Adamski is a native Spanish speaker. She has three sons, Blake who graduated from Elmhurst College in May 2016, Bryce who is attending Illinois State University and Brock who is attending the University of Wisconsin at Milwaukee. Mrs. Gonzalez-Adamski is very happy to join the Rhodes family and is looking forward to sharing her academic and bilingual experience with the staff and Rhodes families.
