Student Online Personal Protection Act (SOPPA)
Rhodes School District 84.5 is posting this to be in compliance with the new SOPPA law that is in effect July 1, 2021 in Illinois.
As a policy, student data and information have long been protected well before SOPPA was even discussed. In fact, only demographic information (name, internal created student ID) are provided to any vendor. Only minimum/required information is provided to any vendor if more information is requested.
Below is a list on on-going vendors that Rhodes School District 84.5 in some way supplies student demographic information for students to be able to use their sites to promote learning. This is an on-going list and will be adjusted with both additions and/or deletions as different vendors are updated.
Illinois Law allows schools to follow agreements from other districts so long as we agree to the exact terms listed as well as providing a written signature from our privacy officer. This is known as an "Exhibit E" which may be provided for some of these documents.
